Morning Roundup

January 15th, 2010

It’s hard to do news on Bonner when he’s sidelined with a broken hand. But here’s what we have:

Over at the 48 minutes of hell blog, they had this to say about the Spurs movement away from defence in favour of offence.
For the Spurs it was the end of the three-stars and defense philosophy that held them atop the league for most… Continue reading

Morning roundup

January 8th, 2010

Not a lot of news out there as Bonner is still recovering from his broken hand. But Robby Lim at Project Spurs has this to say:
Consistency and staying healthy: Role players like McDyess, Bogans and George Hill have to consistently give that added boost the Spurs needed. Also Matt Bonner and Mike Finley should come back from injuries to provide more outside shooting.
And apparently that… Continue reading

Morning roundup

January 2nd, 2010

We’re going to try something new. It’s hard to find fresh new Bonner content as often as I’d like. So a few times a week I’m going to post some of the highlights of Bonner in the press/blogosphere/etc.

From Johnny Ludden at Yahoo Sports
Of the 15 players on the team’s roster, only five have been regular members of the rotation for more than two seasons… Continue reading

Bonner’s become parents! Congratulations!

June 22nd, 2009

StorkAccording to Nadia Bonner’s mother, Matt and his wife became parents this weekend. Matt got to celebrate his first official Father’s Day as the two welcomed Evangeline-Vesper Lynne Bonner into the world.

Nadia’s mother, Pamela Kullo Egelton was all a flutter on her blog announcing the newest addition to the family… Continue reading

Spurs fans love to whine and cry

January 31st, 2009

In a blog post titled “Can the Spurs Win with Matt Bonner?,” the author summarizes Bonner’s strengths (shooting, hustle, strong +/- and average boarding ability) and his weaknesses (defense, sometimes streaky) and concludes the Spurs can win with Bonner.

What a revelation! The Spurs HAVE been winning with Matt Bonner and the other guys who make up the entire team. The author… Continue reading

Who’s still debating Bonner should be in the three-point shooting contest?

January 28th, 2009

Almost every story from around the Net on last night’s Spurs victory over the Utah Jazz dedicates at least a paragraph to Matt Bonner scoring 20 points including six three-pointers.

Ross Siler of the Salt Lake City Tribune said the Jazz had to “… Continue reading

NBA Roundtable breaks down Bonner’s shooting per centages

January 26th, 2009

I’m on record as calling NBA Roundtable one of the best NBA blogs out there. The author’s analysis and choice of topics are really interesting and in all honestly, the stuff he chooses to cover you can’t find anywhere else.

On December 8th he ran a post about Bonner’s scorching hot per centages from behind the arc and when making jump… Continue reading

Bonner seen as good addition to starting lineup

January 20th, 2009

A handful of Web sites around the Net have pointed out Bonner’s contributions in the starting lineup have been one of the reasons the Spurs aren’t wallowing in mediocracy this season. While some Spurs fans still lament the fact the Red Rocket is on their team and wish the clock could be turned back on Robert Horry’s life, viewers whose perspective comes from a non-Spurs fan place see the benefit… Continue reading

Multiple Bonner’s on every team? We likey!

January 18th, 2009

The often thoughtful, 48 Minutes of Hell Web site has a post titled “Every team needs two Matt Bonner’s” and while we couldn’t agree more (but mostly because we think every NBA team could use a personality like Matt Bonner’s) the author makes some interesting points about Bonner and the newly acquired, Austin Croshere, playing side-by-side.

He imagines a trade… Continue reading

Math puts Matt near the top of Spurs

January 5th, 2009

Math and numbers guys who love statistics crunch different stats to rank NBA players. It’s a popular thing on fantasy sites to see the most efficient five players on a given team (hint: they’re usually second squad guys with maybe one started mixed in). I’m not a big fan of these types of stats, but Matt is fairing well in Compsite Scoring.

It’s a system that takes different statistics… Continue reading
