Another good point to bring Bonner onto Team Canada

January 3rd, 2009

James Borbath AKA The Dino Blogger over at Dino Nation Blog brought up another good point for Team Canada regarding Matt Bonner joining them – and again – it’s around marketing. Here’s a snippet of what he had to say. You can use the link above to read the entire entry. James is also a pretty funny writer sometimes so his blog is worth checking out.

One of the things I have said about Canada Basketball and growing it’s profile is people knowing the players more. Tell me who does not know who Matt Bonner is? Every Raptor Fan from coast to coast knows who he is. Not only that they love him for the most part.

FYI – for those of you who do link over to the Dino Nation Blog, for some reason James moved it in November to Blogspot. Apparently he likes inferior usability for his blogging. Regardless, here’s a link to the new home of Dino Nation.

Thank You for the kind words. The real reason for the move from wordpress was about my blog becoming part of The Score.Com’s Sports Federation which is a major sports network up in Canada where I live. They also broadcast on satellite radio to you folks in the U.S. They are one of the 3 major nation sports networks here in Canada.

I actually was live blogging the game for the between the Spurs and Raptors and was really amazed at how well Matt Bonner played in that game. He has come a long way since his time in Toronto. I have never met him personally but have talked to many that have in media up here and you will not find anyone that has a bad thing to say about Matt Bonner. He lives in Toronto in the off-season and showed up at a couple Canada exhibition games in the Toronto area and that is where this story started. He recently was a guest on the show “Hoops” on the Fan 590 and confirmed his interest in playing for Canada.

Thanks again for the kind words and good luck to Red Rocket and his fans of which I am one.
